Scent & Sensibility – Sniff Out Our Autumn Line-Up

As the leaves turn and the air gets crisp, we’re rolling out a packed line-up of scentwork opportunities for dogs of all levels. Whether you're brand new to the world of nose games or already on the trail, there’s something to sniff out this season at Paw & Order.

This autumn we’re launching:
👃 A Beginners Scentwork Course – perfect for first-time sniffers
🕵️ Mantrailing Intro – track and trail like a real detective team
🗺️ Tracking Club – for dogs who love a mission
🌿 Environmental Search Workshops – think real-world scenarios and tricky hides.

Scent work taps into one of your dog’s most powerful natural abilities – their incredible nose. Giving them the chance to sniff, search, and solve scent puzzles isn’t just fun – it’s proper brainwork. Whether you’ve got a high-energy spaniel or a laid-back lab, scent work helps build focus, confidence, and calmness. It channels their instincts in a productive way, leaving them mentally satisfied (and often, happily knackered).

It’s also a brilliant way to strengthen your bond. Working as a team to solve a scent challenge builds trust and connection, without the pressure of formal obedience. It suits dogs of all breeds and ages – including reactive, nervous, or retired dogs – and it’s one of the most inclusive and accessible activities out there. You don’t need fancy equipment or a huge space, just a willingness to learn, a handful of treats, and a dog with a nose (that’s all of them, really).

🕵️‍♀️ Mantrailing

Become a real-life search team with your dog! Mantrailing taps into your dog’s instinct to follow a human scent trail – tracking a specific person through changing environments. It’s low-pressure, confidence-boosting, and brilliant for nervous or reactive dogs because they work one at a time. Plus, it’s just plain cool. Who doesn’t want to feel like they’re part of a K9 search unit?

🗺️ Tracking

If your dog loves putting their nose to the ground, tracking could be their new favourite thing. This discipline teaches dogs to follow ground scent left behind by a person walking a route, often with articles dropped along the way. It’s detailed, methodical, and sometimes muddy – ideal for dogs who thrive on problem-solving and handlers who enjoy a challenge.

🎯 Nosework Games

Looking to build your dog’s scent skills in a playful way? Our nosework games are designed to be fun, flexible, and suitable for all levels. Think quickfire searches, creative scent puzzles, and confidence-building exercises using items you probably already have at home. Great for rainy days, busy minds, and bonding time.

🏅 Scentwork Competitions

Ready to take things up a notch? We’re now working towards offering scentwork competitions under UK Scent Sport and Scentwork UK– giving you and your dog the chance to put your skills to the test. Whether you’re competitive or just curious, these events are a fantastic way to stay motivated, track your progress, and join a friendly scentwork community. And yes – your dog gets to be the star of the show.

Whether you’re just starting out or ready to take your scent work skills to the next level, there’s a course or workshop waiting for you this autumn.

Our sessions are friendly, supportive, and tailored to suit every dog-and-handler team – no matter your experience. So come and join the fun. Spaces are limited, so secure your spot now and let’s get sniffing!
