Puppy Skills
Bringing Home Your New Puppy? We’ve Got You Covered.
Bringing a new puppy home is exciting, overwhelming and sometimes a little daunting. You want to get it right from day one but there’s so much information out there it’s easy to feel lost. At Paw & Order we believe you shouldn’t go it alone and that’s why we’re con hand to provide a complete onboarding pathway designed to give you confidence, clarity and a solid foundation.
Here are a few things that will set you up for success before starting any training with us;
Establish a Routine- Puppies thrive on predictability. Set consistent times for meals, toileting, play and sleep from day one. A settled routine creates a calm, confident puppy.
Create a Safe Space - Designate a quiet area where your puppy can retreat and feel secure. This becomes their den, their safe space when the world feels too big.
Keep Socialisation Gentle - Socialisation doesn’t mean meeting everyone and everything, instead introduce your puppy to different sights, sounds and experiences at their pace. Calm exposure builds confidence far better than overstimulation.
Start as You Mean to Go On - The habits you build now stick. Clear boundaries, consistent responses and calm handling from day one pay dividends later.
Have Your Essentials Ready - Collar, lead, harness, treats, toys and a sense of humour!
